Polypipe offers a look behind the scenes of its Holmes Way plant for 155 local pupils

Polypipe opened its doors to 155 pupils from Horncastle Primary School on Tuesday 7 November, offering pupils a peek behind the scenes of its Holmes Way manufacturing plant. The local Year 1 and Year 2 pupils learned about how Polypipe sources and uses a variety of materials and machinery to make its wide range of plastic piping products.

Polypipe staff delivered an activity workshop and factory tour to show the pupils how products are manufactured in the UK and exported around the world. Staff also explained how some of Polypipe’s products are produced using high quality recycled plastic material, reducing virgin plastic content without compromising product performance.

Following their day at the Holmes Way plant, each student was given a goody bag to take home with them, together with a high visibility vest to use on their way to and from school for improved safety.

John Bush, Operators Director for Polypipe Civils in Horncastle, said, “We are pleased to welcome pupils from Horncastle Primary school. Part of the Year 1 and Year 2 curriculum is related to recycling, and here they can see the process plant at work, where we convert post-consumer material into high quality raw materials and innovative plastic products. We were also able to show the children how important it is to recycle their household waste.”
